It was recently announced that Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is set to star in the Marvel series Secret Invasion.
The forthcoming Disney+ series is based off of the 2008 eight-part comic book series, which revolves around the alien race Skrulls planning an Earth takeover. According to the IMDB description, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and a Skrull named Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), team up to try and stop the invasion.
It hasn't been announced what role Clarke is set to take on, but she sounds more than ready, saying in an interview with ComicBook.com, "I just think what they’re (Marvel) doing right now is so exciting and so cool, and so on the cutting edge of it. I feel like they’re like the Apple of this world.”
She went on to explain just what being a part of Marvel means to her: "To be part of that family feels like, ‘Oh my god, I’m in the cool kid crowd. That’s so cool.’"
One might think that GoT is pretty cool, too, but we suppose coolness is relative.
With that said, Clarke expands on her motivation, saying, "Honestly speaking, the people that are making this are what pushed me over the line to really wanting to do it. I just think that everyone’s heart and heads are in the right place with this one."
There's talk of Olivia Colman (Broadchurch) also joining Secret Invasion, but it's yet to be confirmed.
Now, that would be cool.
We're excited to hear how excited Emilia Clarke is about this project. What about you?
