Casting News: 'Game of Thrones' Actress Emilia Clarke Joins Marvel's 'The Secret Invasion'
Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke is the latest big name to be lured by the ever-expanding Marvel Universe.
According to Variety, the Brit is "in final negotiations" to join Secret Invasion, a Marvel Studio series in the works at Disney Plus.
The series has already assembled quite a cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. Earlier this week it was also reported that Olivia Colman is in talks to join the series.
The series is said to center on a species of shape-shifting aliens who have been building a presence on Earth for several years. Ben-Adir, who has won rave reviews for his performance as Malcolm X in the Oscar-nominated movie One Night in Miami, has been cast as the main villain.
Clarke's potential role, however, is being kept tightly under wraps – as is Colman's. Clarke has been selective with her projects since Game of Thrones came to an end, but signed up last year for a voice role opposite Hugh Laurie in the fantasy movie The Amazing Maurice. It's based on a novel by the late Sir Terry Pratchett.
