WATCH: Henry Golding Stars in New 'Snake Eyes' Trailer... And There is A LOT Going On
You may know Henry Golding from his breakout role in 2018's Crazy Rich Asians. He also popped up as a doting husband and father in the 2018 sleeper hit A Simple Favor, opposite Blake Lively and Anna Kendrik.
He's making strong, solid choices in terms of roles, and the streak continues... he's now going the action route, taking on the title role in the G.I. Joe origin story Snake Eyes, which you can look for on July 23.
From the code name of his character, he sounds like a baddie, but in fact, Snake Eyes is on the good guy team. In the new trailer, we learn where he came from. In the opening scene, we see him do hand-to-hand combat, go back his job slinging fish, and from there, he's pulled into the back of his workplace by the big boss.
This is where things get dicey. He's handed a gun and ordered to execute another man, who has been brought to his knees.
We find ourselves wishing, "Don't do it!!"
You can see how things play out in the below clip:
If you've watched the above, then you know that he did not shoot the man, but instead saved him. The man then saves Golding's character, taking him back to his home in Japan and training him to be the silent warrior we know him to be, as seen in the 1980s animated G.I. Joe series.
In addition to Crazy Rich Asians and A Simple Favor, we also saw Golding in Guy Ritchie's 2019 mobster movie The Gentlemen.
If you now find yourself thinking about Golding, here's a roundup of his some of his roles.
