WATCH: First Trailer for New Period Drama 'Belgravia' from 'Downton Abbey' Creator Julian Fellowes
If the Downton Abbey movie has reignited your passion for sumptuous British period drama, the first trailer for next year's Belgravia should definitely hit the spot.
Like Downton, it's written and created by Oscar winner Julian Fellowes, and has a cast led by respected British thesps. Dame Harriet Walter, who's also been cast in Season Three of Killing Eve, narrates the short trailer, which includes glimpses of characters played by Tamsin Greig (Episodes), Alice Eve (Star Trek into Darkness), Philip Glenister (Life on Mars), and two-time Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel).
The trailer was tweeted by U.K. network ITV – check it out below.
Though the trailer doesn't give much away, it certainly supports the official plot synopsis, which teases: “Belgravia is a story of secrets and scandals amongst the upper echelon of London society in the 19th Century. When the Trenchards accept an invitation to the now legendary ball hosted by the Duchess of Richmond on the fateful eve of the Battle of Waterloo, it sets in motion a series of events that will have consequences for decades to come as secrets unravel behind the porticoed doors of London’s grandest neighborhood.”
Don't you already wish you could find out more?!
Shooting on Belgravia began in April and the series is due to debut next year on ITV in the U.K. and Epix in the U.S. Fellowes is also working on a new period drama for HBO, The Gilded Age, which recently cast Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski in lead roles.
