Julian FellowesDownton Abbey movie is currently in theaters, but that doesn’t mean he’s taking a break. His forthcoming period drama series, The Gilded Age, is gaining steam with casting.

It was recently announced we can look for Sex and the City alum Cynthia Nixon and The Good Fight‘s Christina Baranski to take the leads. The seasoned actresses will be joined by Amanda Peet (Brockmire) and Morgan Spector (Homeland), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 10-part series, heading to HBO, is set in 1880s New York City. The story revolves around an orphaned girl named Marion Brook, who goes to live with her aunties, played by Nixon and Baranski. Baranski portrays Agnes, an aristocrat who married well. Her sister, Ada (Nixon), didn’t plan for the future and relies on Agnes for financial support.

Peet will play Bertha Russell, who comes from a middle-class background. Spector will portray her husband, George, the son of a merchant family, who turns out to be a financial genius.

Last year, Fellowes said in a statement, that making this series is the “fulfillment of a personal dream.” We first reported on this seven years ago, we’re happy to see it coming to fruition.

There’s no mention of a premiere date, but we appear to be getting closer…

Is this going on your watch list??
