Casting News: Mark Rylance to Star as Former Savile Row Tailor in Crime Movie 'The Outfit'

Sir Mark Rylance has signed up to star as a beleaguered former Savile Row tailor in upcoming crime movie The Outfit.

The Oscar-winning actor will play Leonard, an English tailor who cut his teeth crafting suits on London's famous Savile Row. After a personal tragedy, he relocates to Chicago, where he makes equally beautiful suits in a sketchy part of town for a dangerous family of gangsters.

It sounds like a suitably intense role for the revered English actor, who won an Oscar for his performance in Steven Spielberg's 2015 movie Bridge of Spies, and has a trio of Tony Awards in his trophy cabinet, too. Rylance also appears in one of this year's hottest Oscar contenders, The Trial of the Chicago 7.

According to Deadline, Maze Runner's Dylan O’Brien, Set It Up's Zoey Deutch, and The Dig's Johnny Flynn have also signed up to star in the movie, which is due to start shooting in London in March.

The Outfit is the directorial debut from Graham Moore, who won an Oscar for writing the screenplay for the 2015 Alan Turing biopic The Imitation Game, starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Rylance is definitely keeping busy in 2021 so far. He's also joined Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in Adam McKay's sci-fi comedy movie Don't Look Up.

Do you think The Outfit sounds like a good fit for Mark Rylance?
