Casting News: Karen Gillan Joins Judd Apatow's Comedy 'The Bubble'

We spent years time-traveling with Karen Gillan as the Doctor's companion Amy Pond in the beloved series Doctor Who. Gillan has since moved on from DW, but we're still cheering for her and love finding out about what's new in her acting world.

This time around, she's going the funny route. Gillan has signed on to join the ensemble cast of Judd Apatow's forthcoming comedy The Bubble, reports Empire online.

Apatow (Knocked Up) will be writing the screenplay with Pam Brady (Lady Dynamite), which revolves around a group of actors cooped up at a hotel during a pandemic. While their resources are limited, they attempt to complete a film.

It's not just Gillan who has been confirmed — we can also look for Pedro Pascal, Keegan-Michael Key, Iris Apatow, Fred Armisen, Maria Bakalova, David Duchovny, Leslie Mann and Peter Serafinowicz.

Gillan and Pascal (The Mandalorian) are set to portray actors of a well-known franchise, with Mann and Duchovny being a divorced married couple forced to quarantine together.

According to Empire, filming will begin next week.

Since Gillan's DW days, we've seen her in franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji. She even took on directing, with her 2018 feature debut The Party's Just Beginning.
