In case you missed it, Ashley Jensen has just been announced as Shetland's new "lead detective." Douglas Henshall definitely leaves some big boots to fill, but we're excited to see how this brilliant actress brings her own unique flavor to the show. To whet your appetite, here's a guide to some other great shows you can catch her in.
1. Extras (2005-2006)
Jensen's breakthrough came in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's award-winning sitcom about supporting artists on film sets. She's both sweet and very funny as Maggie, a well-meaning extra who supports Gervais' more ambitious character Andy, but also has a habit of saying the wrong thing. She picked up BAFTA and Emmy nominations for her performance.

2. Ugly Betty (2006-2010)
Post-Extras, Jensen landed a juicy stateside role in this hit comedy-drama series. She plays Christina McKinney, a seamstress at fashion magazine MODE who becomes a much-needed ally for America Ferrera's title character. As the series goes on, Christina also becomes involved in the machinations of Vanessa Williams' scheming editor Wilhelmina Slater.

3. Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) and Sherlock Gnomes (2018)
Jensen has a fun voice role in these computer-animated movies as Nanette, an exuberant bullfrog. Her character is actually based on the Nurse from Romeo & Juliet, so she gets some standout scenes with Juliet, who is voiced by Emily Blunt.

4. Agatha Raisin (2014-)
Jensen takes the lead in this charming Acorn TV original set in England's picturesque Cotswolds region. She plays the title character, a former PR executive who finds a new lease on life as an amateur sleuth. The fourth and most recent season aired earlier this year and saw Agatha launching her own private detective agency.

5. Catastrophe (2015-2019)
Jensen had a memorable recurring role in Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney's cult sitcom. She plays Fran, a friend of Horgan's character who isn't always as sympathetic as you might hope. Salty language and frank chats about sex and sexuality are part of Catastrophe's USP (unique selling point), but if you don't mind some adult content, you can watch a clip here.
6. Love, Lies and Records (2017)
Jensen stars in this Acorn TV original created by British TV legend Kay Mellor (Fat Friends, Band of Gold). Here she stars as Kate Dickenson, a registrar who keeps on top of births, marriages and deaths in her local community while also navigating personal ups and downs. Her co-stars included future Doctor Who co-star Mandip Gill.

7. After Life (2019-2022)
Jensen also appears in every episode of Gervais' latest hit sitcom. She plays Emma, a sympathetic care home nurse who bonds with Gervais' grieving widower Tony. After Life is a more reflective and melancholy show than Extras, but Jensen and Gervais' screen chemistry is as sparkling as ever.
