'Westworld' Star Thandie Newton to Play Ex-Spy in 'All the Old Knives'

We're all about a spy thriller. Even a story about a former spy, sitting around with a colleague, re-hashing the past, which is what we can look for in All the Old Knives.

Based on Olen Steinhauer's 2015 novel, we suspect there's more to this story than a catch-up. Thandie Newton (Westworld) is set to take on the role of a former CIA agent, named Celia Harrison, reports Empire Online.

Harrison meets with a former colleague and love interest, who is still an active agent, Henry Pelham (Chris Pine). Once they get past the pleasantries, they go to back to a tragic event that happened six years prior. Both were stationed in Vienna, Austria, where they were case agents on a hijacking. When a flight from Jordan to Vienna was taken over by terrorists, over 100 passengers perished.

Harrison decided right then and there to resign. Since then, she's moved to California, married and had children. Even so, that night still weighs on her. And it's the same for Pelham. They ponder what happened and what didn't happen, over dinner.

The agency believes an agent on the inside of the Vienna attack was compromised. According to the book's description, it's not just the CIA agent's motives they question, but each other's involvement.

Steinhauer (The Tourist) has written the screenplay, with Janus Metz (True Detective) directing.
