WATCH: Vampire TV Series 'What We Do in the Shadows' Gets a First Look Trailer
The comedy-horror film What We Do in the Shadows premiered in 2014, and is now being made into a TV series.
The original mockumentary was co-written and co-directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), who are both returning for the 10-part tale of vampires living in modern-day society.
As you know, vampires cannot be exposed to the sun, so they are forced into the shadows. The new trailer doesn't just show us what happens when veiled by darkness, but the longtime flatmates (like over 100 years) also go to places like the grocery store, which is populated by day dwellers:

We're also introduced to a type of vampire new to us, referred to as an Energy Vampire (Mark Proksch). He sucks the life out of people via boredom or enragement. He dwells in an office, where people are trapped by cubicles.
Clement took the lead in the 2014 film, starring on-screen as Vladislav. But this time around his focus is on writing, saying at the TCA (Television Critics Association) event this past weekend, that he didn't "make the cut" to be cast, reports Deadline. Ouch, that's like a stake to the heart (a little vampire lingo), but since Clement is a co-creator of the franchise, we're pretty sure he's joking.
If Clement isn't going to star, who is? We'll be getting an all new cast, as well as new characters. We can look for Kayvan Novak (Four Lions, Rev) as Nandor, the alpha-male vampire of the house. Harvey Guillen (The Magicians) plays Nandor’s loyal assistant Guillermo. Matt Berry (The I.T. Crowd) and Natasia Demetriou (Sick Note) round out the cast as the two other vamps.
The series can be found over at FX, kicking off on March 27.
The trailer gave us the giggles — what about you!?
