We have a two-for one-deal for you. Anglo favorites Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba are set to star in the forthcoming Three Thousand Years of Longing, reports Deadline.
Swinton portrays an academic who prides herself on being reasonable. Elba takes on the role of a Djinn (a fancy word for genie). These two cross paths in Istanbul and The Djinn needs the academic to make three wishes to gain his freedom. With Swinton’s character, named Alithea, being well-versed on the “cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong,” she declines the offer.
Even so, The Djinn doesn’t give up and argues his case, which you can see below:

In the heat of the moment, Alithea announces, “I’m beginning to wish we never met!” Oh boy, that is not something a Djinn wants to hear. According to the official description, she finally gives in and makes a wish that “surprises them both.”
We’re very intrigued to learn what this oh-so-surprising wish could be.
Other than an academic meeting a Djinn, there isn’t much information about the storyline. If you’d like to do some digging, the feature film is based on author AS Bryatt’s short story The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye.
Three Thousand Years of Longing premieres on August 26.
Do you have any guesses what the wish might be!?
