Thandiwe Newton and Chris Pine seem like a dream duo on paper, and if the trailer for their upcoming spy thriller film All the Old Knives is anything to go by, they will be on-screen, too.
The trailer lets us know that Newton's character Celia Harrison and Pine's character Thomas Pelham are more than just former co-workers; they're also ex-lovers. However, the circumstances bringing them back together are a long way from jubilant. When the CIA discovers that one of its agents leaked information that resulted in a tragic plane crash, Pine's veteran agent is tasked with rooting out the bad apple among his old team.
Laurence Fishburne and Jonathan Pryce co-star in the movie, which premieres in select theaters and on Amazon Prime on April 8. All the Old Knives has a screenplay by Olen Steinhauer based on his own novel of the same name, with Janus Metz Pedersen (Borg vs. McEnroe, True Detective) directing.
Newton, who last year reclaimed the correct spelling of her name in her acting career, has several other movies in the pipeline, including Magic Mike's Last Dance with Channing Tatum and a voice role in the animated sequel Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. We can also catch her in the upcoming fourth season of Westworld.
