WATCH: Sir Patrick Stewart in Full-Length 'Star Trek: Picard' Trailer

The first full-length trailer for Star Trek: Picard has been released, and it shows Sir Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard meeting friends old and new.

The trailer, which debuted at New York Comic Con, begins with Stewart's Picard encountering Brent Spiner's Data, another beloved character from Star Trek: The Next Generation, in what seems to be a dream or hallucination sequence.

It then shows Picard halting his retirement to return to his old space-traveling ways, which brings him into contact with new characters played by Alison Pill (The Newsroom), Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful), Michelle Hurd (Lethal Weapon), and Santiago Cabrera, who starred as Aramis in BBC America's The Musketeers.

Several other familiar faces from the Star Trek: The Next Generation era also appear in the trailer, which you can checkout below.

It's also been announced that Star Trek: Picard will premiere on January 23 on the CBS All Access streaming service. In the U.K., it will debut a day later on Amazon Prime.

Speaking at an event this summer, Stewart suggested that fans might be "shocked" by the new series, which introduces a very different Picard to the character that Trekkies know and love – one who has suffered trauma and serious loss.

Stewart also spoke about playing Picard during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, revealing that when he first landed the role in the late '80s, he considered giving the Captain a French accent because of his name. Thankfully, the idea was quickly nixed!
