WATCH: Richard E. Grant, Sarah Lancashire and Newcomer Max Harwood Star in Trailer for Drag Musical Movie 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie'
If you need a little sparkle in your life right now, the first trailer for Everybody's Talking About Jamie might just supply it.
Adapted from the hit West End stage show of the same name, the musical movie follows 16-year-old teenager Jamie New (newcomer Max Harwood) as he overcomes prejudice and defies the bullies to step out as a drag queen at his school prom.
Richard E. Grant co-stars as Hugo Battersby a.k.a. Loco Chanelle, an older drag queen who becomes Jamie's mentor, and Sarah Lancashire plays his supportive mother, Margaret.
The movie also features Catastrophe's Sharon Horgan as teacher Miss Hedge, Game of Thrones actor Ralph Ineson as Jamie's disapproving dad Wayne, and newcomer Lauren Patel as Jamie's best friend Pritti Pasha.
They all appear in the trailer, which Harwood shared on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Grant shared a set photo of him in full drag with popular U.K. drag queens Myra Dubois, Son of a Tutu and Anna Phylactic, all of whom appear in the movie too.
Everybody's Talking About Jamie is directed by Jonathan Butterell, who also directed the stage show, and has a screenplay by Tom MacRae, who wrote the Doctor Who episodes "Rise of the Cybermen," "The Age of Steel," and "The Girl Who Waited." It's scheduled for release on February 26, 2021.
