Today brings a super-creepy look at Peter Capaldi in The Devil's Hour, and it's a world away from his likable turn as the Doctor.

Executive produced by former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, the six-part thriller hinges on the idea that between 3am and 4am, the so-called "devil's hour," strange and unexplainable things can occur. Jessica Raine plays Lucy, a young woman with a troubled family life who is woken every night at 3.33am by terrifying visions.

When her name is inexplicably linked to a brutal spate of murders in her local area, she comes into contact with Capaldi's character Gideon, a reclusive figure who is the police's prime suspect.

Capaldi says of his character in a press release: "The nature of the piece is spectacularly dark and has been enjoyable to play. He is a character that has fallen through the cracks and is responsible for some serious crimes. But he is not what he appears. He belongs to the night."

You'll definitely see what he means when you watch the trailer.

The Devil's Hour is written by Tom Moran (Wild Bill) and co-stars Nikesh Patel (Indian Summers), Meera Syal (Doctor Who), and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso). You can look out for it on Amazon Prime later this year; it's definitely one to watch with a sofa pillow to hide behind.

Are you looking forward to seeing a darker side of Peter Capaldi in The Devil's Hour?
