Swedish actress Noomi Rapace owned the role of Lisbeth Salander, starring in the original film adaptations of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, i.e. before the Daniel Craig version. And now she's returning to her butt-kicking ways, portraying seven identical sisters in the new Netflix series, What Happened to Monday.

The sci-fi thriller, which is sounding very Orphan Black-ish so far, premieres on August 18. The story revolves around a society where families are only allowed to have one child to combat overpopulation and famine, with the "overspill" taken away and put into hibernation.

Willem Dafoe plays the grandfather to seven little girls, who he raised behind closed doors to keep out of harm's way. When the girls are about grade school age, they are allowed to leave the house, but only one day a week, with their bit of freedom coinciding with their name, "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday," respectively.

Once outside, the girls are directed to take on the singular identity of one person, including personality traits, body language and facial expressions. That's a lot to ask of small children, but somehow, they are able to pull it off into adulthood, with Rapace starring as all seven of the grown sisters.

Since her Dragon Tattoo days, we've seen Rapace star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows as Madam Simza Heron. And she recently reprised her role as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw this summer, in Ridley Scott's Alien Covenant, the follow-up to 2012's Prometheus.
