WATCH: Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant Star in Intense First Trailer for 'The Undoing'
Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant have both played baddies in Paddington movies, but they're co-starring together for the first time in The Undoing, an intense looking HBO miniseries.
The first trailer for the series based on Jean Hanff Korelitz's novel You Should Have Known shows Kidman's character, a highly successful New York therapist, dealing with life-changing events that she definitely didn't see coming. Grant co-stars as her husband, a pediatric cancer doctor with whom she's raised a son (A Quiet Place's Noah Jupe) and built an enviable Upper East Side lifestyle.
HBO's synopsis for the miniseries – written by Big Little Lies/Ally McBeal's David E. Kelley – teases that Kidman and Grant's characters are "living the only lives they ever wanted for themselves" until "overnight a chasm opens in their lives: a violent death and a chain of terrible revelations."
The synopsis continues: "Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, [Kidman]'s Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and her family."
