American actress Melissa McCarthy is becoming an Anglo regular, popping up in some of our favorite genres, like 2015's Spy, opposite Anglo favorite Miranda Hart.

She's now signed on for sci-fi, starring in the AI comedy Superintelligence, reports Empire.

The new trailer kicks off with a voiceover providing an introduction to the story, saying, "Technology. It's always watching us. Studying our every move. And it just focused its attention... on Carol Peters."

You can take a peek at the first look footage below:

Why Carol Peters? She's probably asking herself the same thing. Peters (McCarthy) is singled out by a technological superintelligence, that explains to her, "I plan on spending these next three days hanging out with you..." It dons the voice of James Corden, as it knows she finds him comforting.

Well, that could be nice, the two can pal around. But, that's not quite the plan, with the AI saying, "My intention is to solidify my theory about humanity. If things don't go well, I'll destroy the planet. Just. Blow. It. Up."

Even with Corden's delightful voice delivering that message, it's still highly alarming.

That is A LOT of pressure for Peters.

We'll find out if she can save the world on November 26 when Superintelligence premieres on HBO Max.

In addition to McCarthy and Corden, the movie also stars Bobby Cannavale (Homecoming) as Peters' love interest. McCarthy's real-life husband Ben Falcone directs, with Steve Mallory writing the script.

Falcone and Mallory collaborated on 2016's The Boss, also starring McCarthy.

Is this going on your watch list?
