WATCH: Matt LeBlanc Shines in 'Episodes' Final Season Trailer
It's a pretty bittersweet time to be an Episodes fan: the meta sitcom starring Matt LeBlanc as a fictionalized version of himself returns next month, but it's going to be the show's farewell run.
Co-makers Showtime and the BBC have just released a trailer for the show's fifth and final season, and it suggests Episodes remains creatively in fine shape. LeBlanc continues to bring the funny as an entertainingly vain and arrogant actor starring in a struggling TV show, while Tamsin Greig and Stephen Mangan are still terrific value as the slightly awkward British writing duo he relies on for a career boost.
The trailer also confirms that Episodes will keep on poking affectionate fun at the foibles of the TV industry. "I hope we're not keeping in things because they're funny," a TV writer exclaims during a brainstorming session for LeBlanc's new show. "Comedies don't have to be funny any more."

Episodes launched on Showtime and the BBC in 2011. The following year, LeBlanc won his first ever Golden Globe for his performance in the show. As well as hosting BBC America's Top Gear, of course, he now stars in the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan, which returns for a second season in the fall.
Are you looking forward to more episodes of Episodes... even if it's the last of it?
