WATCH: Karen Gillan Boogies with David Hasselhoff in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Music Video
David Hasselhoff has a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but even so, he's been nominated to lead the way in the new music video "Inferno." He's joined by some of the cast members, like Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana, but it's Karen Gillan who gets center stage with The Hoff, dazzling with her disco dance moves.
The music is pulled from the closing credits of the Marvel film, with Hasselhoff singing lyrics like, "Getting down and dirty with a Procyon motor. He has no people skills, but he's good with motors." If you're not quite sure, a Procyon lotor is a raccoon, referring to one of the Guardians, Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper).
This is definitely one of those scenarios where you really need to see it for yourself:

Director James Gunn talked about recruiting Hasselhoff to star in the film as Star-Lord's (Pratt) dream father, saying to the Radio Times, "I think Hasselhoff was what I came up with from the beginning [for Peter’s boyhood hero]. Then when it came to the moment later in the movie, it’s a Hasselhoff scene with a great cameo [opportunity], and I contacted him and he was totally into it."
Things went so swimmingly, Gunn went one step further, explaining, "I liked him so much that I wrote a song for him to sing over the end credits, which we had a great time recording. And so, he’s become a good friend, he’s a great guy."
The video itself is fun to watch, but if you listen to the lyrics closely it's clear that they're coming from the perspective of the Star-Lord, describing his relationship with his father. You can find the lyrics written out here.
