The first trailer for British spy series The Ipcress File is here, introducing us to Gangs of London actor Joe Cole as classic antihero Harry Palmer.
Based on Len Deighton's novel, The Ipcress File follows petty criminal Palmer as he's offered a way out of jail by Major Dalby (Tom Hollander), a top British intelligence officer. Palmer's mission is to help track down a nuclear scientist who has gone missing.
The trailer also introduces us to Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Politician) as Jean Wright, a close colleague of Palmer's. Look out, too, for loads of authentic period details reflecting the story's 1960s setting.

The Ipcress File was previously adapted into a 1965 movie starring Sir Michael Caine. The new six-part adaptation hails from Trainspotting writer John Hodge and McMafia director James Watkins and premieres May 19 on AMC+.
