WATCH: Guy Pearce Stars in Steven Knight's Take on 'A Christmas Carol'

It's that time of year and the Christmas programming is rolling out. First up, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has had a go at Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, for BBC in the U.K. and FX in the U.S.

Australian actor Guy Pearce has stepped up to play the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge, originally announced by BBC Media. Scrooge is not a fan of Christmas and just wants to be left alone. But, people don't always get what they want, and in his case, he's visited by three ghosts. Each takes him on a trip, to the past, present and future.

Knight's take on this is much darker than what we've seen before:

Peaky Blinders actor Tom Hardy acted as executive-producer, and he will be making a "mysterious" appearance in the three-part miniseries. Ridley Scott (Alien) is also credited with executive-producing.

You can look for Andy Serkis (Star Wars) as the Ghost of Christmas Past and Jason Flemyng (The Missing) as Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. That still leaves a slot for Ghost of Christmas Present. Stephen Graham (Line of Duty), Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders), Joe Alwyn (Boy Erased) and Kayvan Novak (What We Do in the Shadows) round out the cast.

The series is predicted to premiere this coming December.
