Gerard Butler is building a nice portfolio of action credits, having just starred in 2016's London Has Fallen, 2017's Geostorm, and now 2018's Den of Thieves.

Butler takes on the role of "Big Nick," the team leader of an elite unit of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. He and his fellow officers are after a group of outlaws, who have a proven success rate in robbing banks. It appears there's another heist in the works, with the thieves eyeing the Federal Reserve Bank of downtown Los Angeles.

While the law enforcement featured in this film are indeed out to get the baddies, they seem to be working by their own rules. Nick says in the new trailer, "Do we look like the types who arrest you? We just shoot you."

Butler reunites with London Has Fallen screenwriter Christian Gudegast, who is making his directorial debut with Den of Thieves, which he also wrote.
