WATCH: 'Game of Thrones' Star Nathalie Emmanuel in First Trailer for 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' Series
Are you ready for a summer wedding... or four? The first trailer for Mindy Kaling's Four Weddings and a Funeral miniseries has arrived, and it definitely captures the warm rom-com vibes of the beloved movie on which it's based.
Co-written and exec produced by Kaling, the miniseries doesn't recreate the exact plot of the original movie starring Hugh Grant and Andie McDowell. Instead, it follows four American friends (played by Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel, The Mindy Project's Rebecca Rittenhouse, Stranger Things' John Paul Reynolds, and You're the Worst's Brandon Mychal Smith) as they reunite for what's described as a "fabulous London wedding."
This leads to a "tumultuous year of romance and heartbreak" during which Emmanuel's character Maya seems to be drawn to reserved British guy Kash (Nikesh Patel, who played Mitch in this year's Doctor Who New Year's Day special, "Resolution").
They all appear in the trailer – and also look out for a very brief glimpse of Andie MacDowell, who makes a guest appearance in the miniseries as the mother of one of the main characters.

Sadly, unless the creative team have managed to keep a major secret from us, it doesn't look as though Hugh Grant will also be making a guest appearance in the miniseries. He did, however, reprise his original role for this year's Four Weddings and a Funeral "sequelette" that original writer Richard Curtis assembled for Red Nose Day 2019. Curtis, in case you were wondering, serves as an exec producer on the miniseries, which is due to debut July 31 on Hulu.
Oh, and he also recreated the movie's iconic "declaration of love in the pouring rain" scene on The Graham Norton Show a few years ago. What a great sport!
