We loved AMC's adaptation of spy novelist John le Carré's The Night Manager starring Anglo faves Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman. So we're thrilled the network is turning another le Carré book into television.

Set in the 1970s, The Little Drummer Girl revolves around Martin Kurtz (Michael Shannon), an Israeli spy tracking a Palestinian terrorist who's targeting Jewish organizations. Charlie (Florence Pugh) is a radical left-wing English actress, who doubles as a spy working under Kurtz.

Charlie asked to pretend she's in a relationship with the terrorist's brother in an attempt to get his attention and bring him out of hiding. To clarify, she's not engaging with his actual brother, but instead an agent (Alexander Skarsgård) who steps in to impersonate the sibling. Basically, she is the bait.

In 2016, you may have spotted Pugh in the first season of the crime drama Marcella as Cara Thomas. In the same year, she took on the title role in the feature film Lady Macbeth. We can look for her as Amy March in Greta Gerwig's 2019 Little Women film adaptation.

The Little Drummer Girl — a six-part miniseries — will air over three consecutive nights in the U.S., beginning November 19. Viewers in the U.K. can watch this fall on BBC One.
