WATCH: Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling Make Quite the Team in 'Late Night' Trailer
Emma Thompson plays a cut-throat chat show host in the forthcoming comedy Late Night, releasing on June 7. But, not for long as she's about to get the boot because she is so unliked.
Mindy Kaling, who wrote the screenplay, stars in the movie as a writer-extraordinaire. Her job isn't just to write; she's tasked with saving her new boss's job, however she sees fit. In the just released trailer (March 7), we learn the plan is to make Thompson's character so likable that she's unfireable.
That is one way to go about it.

One of our favorite moments in the above clip is when Kaling pitches some jokes for the monologue, saying, "I shouldn't do this in an English accent, should I?" Oooooh, we so wish she did.
Neither of these two seem to be 100 percent on the up and up; each looking out for her own best interest. It will be interesting to see how this pans out.
In other late night show news, Thompson isn't only a great faux host, she's a wonderful real-life chat show guest as seen on BBC America's The Graham Norton Show:

We're not used to seeing Emma Thompson play so mean. Any thoughts on this new side?
