The first trailer for the new movie adaptation of The Secret Garden has arrived, and it offers a glimpse of the heartwarming family entertainment to come.

Dixie Egerickx (Patrick Melrose, The Little Stranger) stars as the movie's heroine, Mary Lennox, a 10-year-old girl who has become spoiled after being neglected by her wealthy parents while growing up in India.

After a cholera epidemic kills her family and their servants, she's sent to live in a remote manor house in northern England with her reserved uncle Archibald Craven (Colin Firth) and his prim and proper housekeeper Mrs. Medlock (Dame Julie Walters).

As the trailer reveals, Mary mellows when she discovers a magical secret garden in the house's grounds. Check it out below.

Marc Munden (National Treasure, The Crimson Petal and the White) directs from a screenplay by Jack Thorne (National Treasure, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). David Heyman, producer of the Harry Potter and Paddington movies, is one of this movie's producers as well, so it definitely has a strong pedigree

This is the fourth time that Frances Hodgson Burnett's beloved children's novel The Secret Garden has been adapted for the big screen. The last movie version came in 1993, and featured Dame Maggie Smith as Mrs. Medlock.

The Secret Garden is due to arrive in U.S. theaters in 2020 at a date to be confirmed. The U.K. release date has been set as April 17 2020. Bring it on!
