There's a new Lisbeth Salander in town and you might just recognize her.

The Crown's Claire Foy is the latest actress to take on the role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series after Noomi Rapace starred in the original Swedish trilogy back in 2009, followed in 2011 by Rooney Mara in the American version.

Mara and her co-star Daniel Craig stopped after the first film, however, as the two sequels — The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest — were never made in the U.S.

Now, Foy stars in the adaptation of the fourth book in the series, The Girl in the Spider's Web. The story was written by David Lagercrantz, who stepped in to take over the Millennium series, following author Stieg Larsson’s death in 2004.

It must be difficult to play a character viewers have seen before. But Foy does not disappoint.

The first trailer, released today (June 7) via ConmingSoon.net, is absolutely astonishing. We completely forget that it's Foy on the screen; she's all Lisbeth Salander, right down to the voice. The English actress pulls off what is to our ears a pretty convincing Swedish accent.

In the opening scene, a man has brutally beaten his wife in their home, where he thinks no one will witness. But Salander, being a tech wiz, is able to manipulate the security system and let herself into the private residence.

We're beyond intrigued and can't wait to see the entire story unfold when it hits theaters on November 9.

In addition to Foy, The Girl in the Spider's Web stars Sverrir Gudnasona as Mikael Blomkvist. Stephen Merchant (The Office) plays a computer engineer while Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) is an NSA agent searching for Salander. Also, Blade Runner 2049 actress Sylvia Hoeks stars as the unidentified blonde woman we see in the trailer from Salander's past.

Fede Alvarez (Don't Breathe) directed and co-wrote the film with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight and writer Jay Basu. Alvarez will also collaborate with Basu on the forthcoming remake of the 1986 adventure-fantasy film Labyrinth, originally starring David Bowie.
