WATCH: 'Bourne Identity' Director Doug Liman Has New Teen Sci-Fi Thriller Series 'Impulse'
Director Doug Liman, who's behind action thrillers like The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, is working on a new sci-fi series called Impulse. He's set to direct one episode and act as executive producer and co-writer. The other nine episodes, it's a 10-parter, will each have its own director.
The folks over at YouTube Red, where the series will premiere, have released a first look trailer. We meet 16-year-old Henry Coles (Maddie Hasson), a teenage girl who has just moved to a new town in fictional Reston, New York. She's basically friendless, but she's not entirely alone, she has a huge chip on her shoulder to keep her company.
Henry has a traumatic run-in with a classmate, which triggers an ability she had no idea she possessed:

We get a hint of what's happening in the new clip, with Henry saying, "Something happened. Something really strange. Like, I've lost time." Something like... time travel? Or, shall we say, time jumping?
Impulse is a follow-up to Liman's 2008 film Jumper, the stories are both pulled from Steven Gould's YA novel series. Jumper was the first book in the series with Impulse being the third, both involving teleportation.
In addition to Liman, Cherien Dabis, Ed Fraiman, Mohammad Ghorbankarimi, Valerie Weiss, Mairzee Almas, Rebecca Johnson, Alex Kalymnios and Maggie Kiley will be taking on directing duties. Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will serve as showrunner, according to ComingSoon.net.
You can look for Impulse over at YouTube Red later this year.
