WATCH: Angelina Jolie is Back as Maleficent in Sequel 'Mistress of Evil'
The story of Sleeping Beauty may be legendary, but Maleficent's version "is no fairy tale," according to the horned fairy herself in the newly released trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.
Set to a remake of the song "Season of the Witch," here's a first look at the sequel:

Angelina Jolie returns to reprise the role of the evil-ish Maleficent. We say "ish" because Maleficent started off as a happy fairy in the 2014 film Maleficent, living in the Moors with her fellow magical creatures. She turned dark when her wings were clipped while asleep — the ultimate betrayal — and then became good again when the love of Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) warmed her heart.
While she seems reformed and uses her powers responsibly, she definitely still has evil inside of her, hence her title, Mistress of Evil. In 2019's Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, she goes up against King John (Robert Lindsay) and Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer), who are trying to take over the Moors and its magical inhabitants.
Our favorite bit from the above footage is when Maleficent gives Queen Ingrith an opportunity to speak up for herself, but the Queen really doesn't have a chance going against the likes of Maleficent.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil hits theaters on October 19. We can also look for Jolie in Marvel's The Eternals, opposite Richard Madden (Bodyguard).
