Tom Hardy takes the title role in 2018's Venom. He portrays a journalist who is taken over by an alien parasite. His character, Eddie Brock, struggles to fight through the symbiotic relationship and keep some control of his body and soul.

Venom is getting a sequel, which is set to release in September of this year, where we see the return of Hardy. The plot is unknown, but the title is Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which does not sound all that promising for everyone involved.

On a more positive note, this marks the first time Hardy is getting a writing credit on a feature film, reports Empire Online. Kelly Marcel handled the screenplay, but she and Hardy share the "Story By" credit.

Marcel talked to Empire about his contribution, saying, "This is new for him, to get credit, but it’s not new for him to be this involved. He’s absolutely 100 per cent committed to everything that he does.”

She also goes on to say why it makes so much sense: “He’s married to Venom. He loves this character. He’s very involved in what he thinks should happen."

It didn't stop with the praise, with Marcel also sharing about the process, saying, "He doesn’t get a pen and write. We spent months breaking the story together on FaceTime, riffing on ideas, seeing what worked, seeing what didn’t. Then I took everything we spoke about and holed up somewhere for three months quietly, knocking out a script."

That's a bit of fun, to get a fly-on-the-wall perspective of what goes into two people collaborating on a feature film script.
