'The Simpsons' Creator Matt Groening's Fantasy Series 'Disenchantment' Gets First Trailer

Matt Groening's groundbreaking animated sitcom, The Simpsons, is currently in its 30th season and still going strong. Now he's at it again, and has made a new fairy tale-themed series for Netflix.

We mentioned Disenchantment in our Summer TV Preview just two weeks ago, and now, finally, a trailer has dropped for the much-anticipated 10-parter, which premieres August 17.

With Groening in the driving seat, don't expect a straightforward, "perfect princess kisses frog prince and they live happily ever after" type of scenario. Instead, we're getting a princess by the name of Bean, voiced by Broad City's Abbi Jacobson, who has some not-so-royal ways about her. In fact, she's known for her hard-partying.

The first trailer gives us a look at the medieval village, Dreamland, and an introduction to Bean:

We'll also meet some of Bean's friends, a feisty elf (Nat Faxon) and a personal demon (Eric André). Twenty episodes have been made so far, and they’ll air over two seasons.

You can look for the first season of Disenchantment over at Netflix.

Groening is also the creator of the sci-fi series Futurama, which ran from 1999-2013. You can catch the intergalactic series via Hulu.
