'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Rachel Brosnahan to Star in Sci-Fi Movie 'Distant'
If you enjoy Rachel Brosnahan as stand-up comedian Midge in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, you'll be getting more of her on the big screen. And, she's signed up for one of our favorite genres... sci-fi, that is.
Brosnahan is set to take on the role of an astronaut who is stuck in an escape pod on an alien planet, reports Deadline. While the premise for the movie Distant might sound distressing, it's not just sci-fi, but also a comedy (another favorite genre).
She will be co-starring opposite Anthony Ramos (She's Gotta Have It). Ramos will portray an asteroid miner who finds himself on the same planet, with the two of them being the only inhabitants. Oh, and some creepy creatures who are on his tail, as he navigates the hazardous terrain to find her.
Spencer Cohen will be taking on writing duties, and he has experience with sci-fi, co-writing Extinction. Will Speck and Josh Gordon, who co-directed Blades of Glory, will be partnering up once again. Sounds like a nice collaborative effort with everyone pulling from their area of expertise.
We just saw Brosnahan in last month's release of Ironbark, starring opposite Anglo favorite Benedict Cumberbatch. You can also look for Ramos in the big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical In the Heights, coming out this summer (June 26).
Are you now picturing Mrs. Maisel doing "sit down" comedy in an escape pod?
