'The Handmaid's Tale' Actress Yvonne Strahovski Will Star Opposite Noomi Rapace in Thriller 'Angel of Mine'

If you've seen season one of The Handmaid's Tale, you're probably familiar with actress Yvonne Strahovski. She plays Serena Waterford, the captain's (Joseph Fiennes) wicked wife and mistress to Elisabeth Moss's Offred, who serves as a concubine to the oppressive couple.

Now, the Australian actress will join Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) to star in the thriller Angel of Mine, reports Deadline Hollywood.

Rapace portrays a young woman struggling with the death of her daughter. A few years have passed when she becomes fixated on another woman, who she believes has actually stolen her daughter and is passing her off as her own. Strahovski is set to play the other mother, and alleged kidnapper.

Angel of Mine is based on the 2008 French film L'Empreinte de l'ange (aka, The Mark of an Angel). The trailer for the original (below) may be in French but it still gives us an idea of what to expect:

In the original film, a mourning mother picks up her little boy from a children's party, where she sees a young girl who she believes is her dead daughter. She promptly inserts herself into the child's family life. The mother of the girl is welcoming at first but soon realizes there's a problem.

The English-spoken adaptation will be written by Luke Davies (Lion). There is no set release date.

Meanwhile, we can look for Strahovski in season two of The Handmaid's Tale, returning to Hulu on April 25. She's also completed filming on The Predator — a sequel to 1987's Predator — which hits theaters on September 14.

Is Angel of Mine your kind of thriller?
