The Great British Baking Show host Prue Leith is celebrating after being made a Dame in Queen Elizabeth II's Birthday Honours.

Leith, who is also a novelist and the founder of a cookery school, receives her Damehood for services to food, broadcasting, and charity. Expressing her gratitude for the prestigious accolade, Leith wrote on Twitter: "I am thrilled, delighted and very grateful. I’m not sure I deserve such a pat on the back for doing things that I’ve loved all my long life — in business or cooking or campaigning. But I can’t pretend it’s not a huge honour and source of pride. Dame Prue! It will take some getting used to."

Welsh actor Jonathan Pryce, known for his roles in Evita, The Two Popes, and Tomorrow Never Dies, is also celebrating after being awarded a Knighthood for services to drama and charity.

Pryce, who will portray Queen Elizabeth II's late husband Prince Philip in the next season of The Crown, told The Independent: "That the UK continues to honour those that work in the arts acknowledges the great contribution artists make to the way we live our lives. After almost 50 years as an actor I am proud to think that the work and ideals that I have shared with my friends and colleagues is being honoured in this way."

Meanwhile, Luther and The Affair actress Ruth Wilson is celebrating, too, after being made an MBE for services to drama.
