Hear the name Steven Soderbergh lately, and chances are you think of his much-hyped upcoming heist film starring Daniel Craig.

You almost certainly don't think of tiaras and bodices or the trappings of a regal costume drama. Those are things much more readily associated with Wolf Hall and The Crown star Claire Foy, who, according to Variety, will star in the next project from the famed director.

Sound like an odd combination? Well, it is and it isn't.

Soderbergh has always inter-spliced his big-budget movies with more experimental works, such as 1996's non-linear Schizopolis; 2005's Bubble, which uses no script and non-professional actors; and 2008's Che, a two-part non-chronological biopic about Marxist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara.

This new film sounds like it'll be much more in that vein. It currently has a working title of Unsane, and though there's not many details about what it'll be about, the whole thing will reportedly be filmed on an iPhone.

Claire will star alongside her fellow Brit Juno Temple, who's already added blockbusters like Black Mass and The Dark Knight Rises to a back catalog that features Atonement and The Other Boleyn Girl, and has starring roles in Woody Allen's next film Wonder Wheel, James Franco's The Pretenders, and new Amazon series Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams this year.

We'll have to wait and see if Claire does similar, but with an Emmy nomination to add to her Golden Globes haul from last year, we reckon she'll be a force to reckon with in Hollywood soon, too.

Unsane is set for a 2018 release.
