Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Fleabag is one of TV's freshest new TV comedies of recent years, and we've been excited to see how Sherlock's Andrew Scott will add to its risqué but relatable vibe ever since his casting was announced last fall.

Now, further details about his role in the BBC/Amazon show have been revealed by Fleabag producers Harry and Jack Williams. The BAFTA-winning Sherlock actor will play a priest who “jolts” Waller-Bridge's Fleabag into “seeing the world in a different way,” they told RadioTimes.com.

Does this mean Waller-Bridge's title character could have a somewhat surprising (given her exploits in season one) religious awakening? After all, the BBC has already teased: "With hope and faith at the core of series two, our heroine finds herself in the midst of a battle she is determined to win: Fleabag vs. God."

The producers also explained that Waller-Bridge “wrote [Scott's role] with him in mind, and wrote it and developed it with him."

"You can see that on screen,” they added.

Scott isn't the only high-profile addition to Fleabag's cast for season two. Dame Kristin Scott Thomas and Fiona Shaw have also signed up to appear in currently undisclosed roles.

When her casting was announced, Shaw – who also appears in BBC America's Killing Eve, written by Waller-Bridge – said: “Phoebe's mind is like nothing else.”

Scott, Shaw, and Scott Thomas join returning cast members Olivia Colman (Godmother), Sian Clifford (Claire), Bill Paterson (Dad), Brett Gelman (Martin), Jenny Rainsford (Boo), Hugh Skinner (Harry), and Hugh Dennis (Bank Manager).

Season two of Fleabag will premiere later this year at a date to be confirmed. However, Waller-Bridge fans will be glad to know it's already been announced that Killing Eve will be returning to BBC America in April.
