'Sex and the City' to Return for Revival Series 'And Just Like That...' Without Kim Cattrall

Sex and the City is to return for a revival series titled And Just Like That...

Original stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis will all reprise their roles from the iconic late-'90s show, but they won't be joined by fellow O.G. cast member Kim Cattrall.

Michael Patrick King, executive producer of the original show and director of its two spin-off movies, is returning too. Parker shared a teaser for the revival series on her Instagram with the caption: "I couldn’t help but wonder... where are they now?"

The 10-part revival series has been given the green light by HBO Max and is due to start shooting in New York City this spring. The streaming service's Head of Original Content, Sarah Aubrey, said in a press release sent to Variety: "I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them."

Sex and the City originally ran on HBO between 1998 and 2004, before returning for theatrically released movies in 2008 and 2010. In recent years, Cattrall has made it clear that she has no desire to reprise her role as plain-speaking PR executive Samantha Jones.

As The Independent reports, during a 2017 appearance on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, she spoke about her decision to pass on a third spin-off movie, saying: "This isn’t about more money, this is not about more scenes, it’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I’m 61. It’s now."
