You can currently look for Saoirse Ronan in the comedy whodunit See How They Run, opposite Sam Rockwell. The movie just had its theatrical premiere on September 16, but that doesn’t mean Ronan is slowing down
According to Variety, she’s now set to star in writer-director Steve McQueen’s WWII feature film Blitz. The story revolves around a group of Londoners and what they do to survive aerial bombing. Ronan’s role has yet to be announced, but she is said to be “taking the lead.”
This isn’t Ronan’s first wartime movie, with her making her international breakthrough as a child actress in 2007’s Atonement. More recently, Ronan has starred in period dramas Little Women (2019) and Ammonite (2020).
While the description for Blitz is brief, it sounds like Ronan has a handle on this genre.
McQueen is probably best known for 2011’s Shame, 2013’s 12 Years a Slave and the anthology series Small Axe, which premiered in 2020. This is the first time Ronan and McQueen are teaming up together.
While we wait for more updates on Blitz, let’s take a peek at Ronan’s latest project:
