You may be across Ricky Gervais’ dark comedy After Life, which premiered in 2019.
Like with other projects, Gervais (The Office, Extras) is the creator and co-writer, along with Tom Basden and Tony Way.
The series has rolled out two seasons thus far and now there’s a third in the works, which is set to premiere on Netflix on January 14, reports ComingSoon.Net.
The storyline starts off on a sad note and from there, things become calculating. Gervais takes on the role of a man named Tony. When Tony’s wife (Kerry Godliman) dies, he is so overcome with grief, that he decides to give up his “Mr. Nice Guy” routine and do and say whatever he wants.
According to the description, his theory is that if he doesn’t care about himself or anyone else, he can push the world away. He considers it a kind of “Super Power.”
There’s one flaw in his plan, as the people around him actually do care about Tony.
And, they step in to try and get their friend back, the way he was before suffering the loss of his wife.
We will say, heading into the next season, it seems Tony has had a change of heart:
You can look for Gervais’ Extras co-star Ashley Jensen, who plays a nurse to Tony’s dad (David Bradley).
