We know Renée Zellweger isn’t British, but she will always be Bridget Jones to us.

British or not, she’s on our watch list and 'killer thriller' is a go-to-genre. Now, we can look for both when Zellweger stars in The Thing About Pam, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The six-part series is based on five Dateline episodes that detail the real-life events that lead to the death of Betsy Faria in 2011. Faria’s husband, Russ Faria, was tried and convicted of her murder. He was sentenced to life in prison, plus thirty years.

One of the reasons he was found guilty, was because of the testimony of one of his wife's coworkers, Pam Hupp. Zellweger is set to take on the role of this supposedly supportive friend.

As the title suggests, there was something about Pam.

The newly released trailer alludes to just what that means:

While this is a serious topic, Zellweger’s portrayal borderlines comedic.

It doesn’t seem like this is done purposefully, to make light of such a tragic event, it’s just that the people involved had such absurd reactions.

Like when Pam learns her friend is dead, saying, “Oh. My. God. What. Happened?”

Her voice is very flat, lacking emotion, and very… unconvincing.

The Thing About Pam, a six-part series, is set to premiere on March 8 over at NBC.
