Rebel Wilson to Host BAFTA Film Awards 2022

Rebel Wilson has been announced as the host of the upcoming British Academy Film Awards.
The Australian actress, who will make her debut as the BAFTA Film Awards' host, follows in the footsteps of previous comperes including Graham Norton, Stephen Fry, and Joanna Lumley.
"I am very honored to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where Covid will no longer exist because it will clearly have been canceled by then," Wilson said in a typically droll statement. "It's going to be so much fun! I don't wanna put any pressure on this – I know I'm not going to be funny because I am no longer fat."
Later in the statement, she poked fun at her role in the much maligned Cats movie, adding:  "So basically I'll just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench and together we'll both try and bond with Daniel Craig. And yes, I do mean ‘bond.'  This show will be an anniversary celebration of some important British film franchises such as Harry Potter and not such as Cats. Everybody's going to love it, I'm sure! See you guys in March!”
This year's British Academy Film Awards will take place at London's Royal Albert Hall on March 13. In the meantime, we can look forward to the nominations being announced on February 3.
Though Wilson has never hosted the BAFTA Film Awards before, she has definitely supplied some memorable moments over the years. You can relive her speech at the 2020 event – which includes some close-to-the-bone jokes and salty language – below.
