Phoebe Waller-Bridge was one of the big winners at last night's Golden Globe Awards, collecting two trophies for her highly-acclaimed sitcom Fleabag.

Waller-Bridge – who also developed and serves as an executive producer on BBC America's Killing Eve – won the awards for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy and, jointly with Fleabag's production team, for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy.

Her Fleabag co-star Olivia Colman won her third Golden Globe in the last four years, this time for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown. She took home the Best Actress – Television Series Drama award ahead of a highly competitive field of nominees that included Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Big Little Lies' Nicole Kidman.

During a typically endearing acceptance speech, Colman told the audience that she was surprised to win again, saying: "I already got a little bit boozy, because I thought this wasn't gonna happen."

Killing Eve was also nominated for the Best Television Series – Drama prize but lost to HBO's Succession.

In the movie categories, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood won three awards, while Sir Sam Mendes' 1917 won two. Taron Egerton collected the Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy award for his performance as Sir Elton John in Rocketman, joining Sir Elton himself on the winner's list: the rock icon and his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin took home the Best Original Song award for "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again," a new song they wrote especially for the biopic.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Brad Pitt, Judy's Renée Zellweger, Joker's Joaquin Phoenix, The Farewell's Awkwafina, and Marriage Story's Laura Dern took home the other big screen acting prizes in a three-hour ceremony led by a no-holds-barred opening monologue from Ricky Gervais.

“If you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech," he told the star-studded audience at LA.'s Beverly Hilton hotel. "You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg.”

Ouch.
