Olivia Colman is beyond busy these days. She’s already finished three projects, set to premiere later this year, including Empire of Light, Secret Invasion, and Great Expectations.
One might take a break, but there’s no slowing down in sight. Colman has a new role lined up, set to star in the forthcoming Wicked Little Letters, opposite her Lost Daughter co-star Jessie Buckley, reports Deadline.
The esteemed actresses will play neighbors living in a seaside town on the coast of England during the 1920s. As the name of the movie suggests, there are letters floating around that are quite scandalous. The author is unknown, but all fingers are pointing at Buckley’s character Rose.
With this being a mystery, the obvious suspect isn’t usually the culprit.
According to the description, Colman’s character, Gladys, comes to her neighbor’s defense and the two work to figure out the mystery together. This isn’t just a popularity contest though, Rose is facing jail time and losing custody of her daughter.
Even so, we’d like to point out, it is deemed a comedy. On top of that, the movie is based on real-life events, according to Collider. The release date is predicted for 2023.
This makes us think of Colman’s titular role in the BBC America mystery Broadchurch:
