Adapted by Alice Oseman from her own graphic novel, Heartstopper follows the blossoming friendship and eventually, romantic relationship that develops between British teens Nick (Kit Connor) and Joe (Charlie Spring), reports BBC News.
Colman's role in the series is relatively small but includes some key emotional moments with Nick as he is processing his feelings. Connor told RadioTimes.com that Colman's role was even hidden from the cast during production. "We spent most of the shoot not knowing who was playing my mum. So it was like, there was a circle on the call sheet, who is it going to be? We thought, 'It’s got to be someone pretty interesting.'"
Discussing his time with the Oscar, BAFTA, Emmy, and Golden Globe-winning actress, he added: "We got to film with her for two days and it was really just me and her, and it was an utterly incredible, enlightening experience for me."
