Writer, actress and singer-songwriter Nicôle Lecky has been hard at work.

Her stage play, Superhoe, premiered in 2019 at the Royal Court Theatre in London, with Lecky taking the lead.

The play has been adapted for screen, renamed Mood, premiering on BBC Three in the U.K. tomorrow. You can look for the series this fall over at BBC America and AMC+.

The six-part series follows a twenty-something Londoner named Sasha (Lecky). Her sights are set on becoming a recording artist, but at the moment, she’s stuck living at home with her mom, stepdad and sister.

When she’s kicked out of the house, she finds herself sleeping on a friend’s sofa.

Lecky recently talked to Deadline about the series heading stateside, saying, ”Americans want to see a different side of Britishness.”

She goes on to explain what she means by that: “They’ve seen a lot of Brits sipping tea and gang shows but not much like this, about a normal girl in a pocket of London who goes on a huge journey.”

She also gives a shout out to BBC America, saying, it’s the “right home who understood that I wanted a much wider audience to see my show.”

She provides a hint about what to expect, putting a spotlight on the tone of the series, saying, “I’m not writing it from a place of landing these funny beats. I feel like it’s its own thing. If people wanted they could call it a ‘dramedy’ but it does go to some dark places so I guess it’s a drama.”

Here’s a peek at Lecky talking about intertwining music into the storytelling:
