New Trailer: Russell Tovey Stars in Crime Thriller Series 'The Sister'

We recently saw Russell Tovey in last year's The Good Liar, starring opposite Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen. You may also know him from earlier roles, like in Years and Years (2019), Looking (2014-2015) and Being Human (2008-2012).

He's now set to star in the four-part miniseries The Sister, from Luther creator Neil Cross.

Tovey takes on the role of a young man named Nathan. He comes across as a doting boyfriend to his partner Holly (Amrita Acharia). In the below trailer, he says to her, "All I care about is you. I just want you to be happy."

The two seem to be in a committed and loving relationship, but Holly is troubled and distracted. Three years prior, her sister went out one night and never came home.

As the first look footage rolls out, it appears Nathan may have played some sort of role in the sister's disappearance:

It's not just his mere involvement, but he seems to know what happened. If he were to come clean, he could at least give Holly some peace of mind. But, he's more set on covering his tracks.

We may be jumping to conclusions, as one does with a murder-mystery, but we get the feeling Cross wants viewers to think this through.

When the series was first commissioned, Cross talked about bringing it to the screen, saying, "It’s one of my favorite stories. A tale of psychological suspense, of guilt and ghosts and murder. Oh, and love. Always love. Our job is to make viewers want to sleep with the lights on. We’re looking forward to it," reported by Deadline.

The miniseries is inspired by Cross's novel Burial, published in 2010.

Cross has definitely had us up late at night, like with the bus scene from season five of Luther:

The Sister is set to air on ITV in the U.K. this Fall. We're still waiting on a premiere date for the U.S.... fingers crossed it's sooner than later.

Are you psyched to see a new Neil Cross series coming out?
