The sci-fi series Red Dwarf kicked off in 1988, running through 2017 (with little breaks, here and there). And now it's getting another life, with a 90-minute special set to air in the spring, reports RadioTimes. 

The series has become a cult classic, but if it's new to you, here's the 411 on the start of the series: Dave Lister (Craig Charles) goes down for a nap of sorts, waking up to find out he’s the only surviving human in the galaxy. He’s been in suspended animation for three million years and is traveling into deep space on a mining ship. He has the company of three friends, including a hologram, a cat-being and an android.

Speeding up to now, Lister is still in space. The cats have evolved and formed a fleet of their own. The official description reads: The special will see the posse meet three cat clerics (Tom Bennett, Mandeep Dhillon, Lucy Pearman) who worship Lister as their God. Lister vows to help them as they’re being hunted by Rodon, the ruthless feral cat leader (Ray Fearon) who has vowed to wipe out all cats who worship anyone but him. 

The new trailer puts together a montage of clips, with Lister providing a voiceover, saying, "You don't need me. I'm not sure you ever did." It sounds like his confidence has been rattled, but let's hope he bounces back:

This is the 13th outing for the Red Dwarf crew. In addition to Charles, we can look for returning cast members Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewelyn and Norman Lovett.

The special is set to air this spring in the U.K. on the UKTV channel Dave. There's no U.S. home as of yet, but these days, programs seem to arrive sooner than later.
