New Trailer: Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer are at Odds in Psychological Thriller 'Luce'

In the forthcoming movie Luce, Naomi Watts plays a parent to a teen son, and Octavia Spencer plays his teacher. One would think the two women are on the same side and have the best interest of the youth in mind... but, that's not always the case.

Something is amiss, and it appears the teacher has a vendetta toward the teen, named Luce (Kelvin Harrison, Jr.).

Luce grew up in a war-torn country and was adopted as an adolescent by Amy (Watts) and Peter Edgar (Tim Roth). Now a scholar athlete and member of the debate team at his high school, he's described as a "model student."

Spencer takes on the role of educator Harriet Wilson. It's not clear why she's so agitated by the teen, but it is clear she is not going to stand by and be quiet. In the first look footage, she goes out of her way to start trouble for him. Even his own parents aren't sure what to believe.

Luce premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, and will be in theaters on August 2.

Spencer currently stars in the horror-thriller Ma, in theaters now. You can look for Watts in the TV series, The Loudest Voice, premiering June 30 on USA. We just saw Roth in the TV series Tin Star (2017-2019).

You may have spotted Harrison, Jr. in the crime series StartUp (2016-2017). You can also look for him in the series Godfather of Harlem, a TV prequel to the 2007 film American Gangster, premiering later this year.
