Keira Knightly and Matthew Goode have signed on to star as a happily married couple in the forthcoming Silent Night. But, the storyline isn’t all that happy.
As the headline suggests, it’s their last day on Earth, and it happens to also be Christmas. It's not just their last day, but everyone's on the planet.
The end of the world is coming, and the couple decide to carry on as usual, decorating the house and preparing to celebrate the day. But, of course, they struggle with the pending doomsday and how to explain what’s happening to their little ones.
The newly released trailer reveals the highs and lows of the evening:

If you’d like to read up more on what to expect, here’s a peek at the official statement, courtesy of AMC+: “The film follows parents Nell and Simon who have invited their closest friends to join their family for Christmas dinner at their idyllic home in the English countryside,” reads the synopsis. “As the group comes together, it feels like old times – but behind all of the laughter and merriment, something is not quite right.  The world outside is facing impending doom, and no amount of gifts, games or Prosecco can make mankind’s imminent destruction go away. Surviving the holidays just got a lot more complicated.”
The movie is referred to as a dark comedy, and that is quite the understatement… this is VERY dark.
But, in a fun way. As we like to remind ourselves, it’s fiction.
And, who came up with this twisted twist on the traditional Christmas movie?
We can thank Camille Griffin, who wrote and directed the movie. Griffin has made a handful of shorts, but this marks her feature debut.

And, what a debut it is.
You can look for Silent Night in theaters and on AMC+ as of December 3.
Are you going to gear up for the holidays with this delightfully grim story?
